ARCHSOFT® FEATURES


The following list is a brief description of most of the features in ARCHSOFT. You may find it more convenient to print this list for reviewing. (Pick the Print button on your browser).

    SETUP
  • Quickly establish Architectural Environment including drawing scale, Text and Dim. Styles.
  • Load default AIA short-format layers (or your own layer names) from a customisable file.
  • All ARCHSOFT objects automatically placed on correct (user-defined) layers.
  • Most ARCHSOFT commands allow setting or changing of parameters (values) directly within the command.
    LAYER TOOLS
  • Pick an object to set the current layer.
  • Pick an object to turn off a layer.
  • Pick an object to freeze a layer.
  • Pick an object to move other objects to the layer of the first object picked.
  • Turn on all layers with one pick.
  • Turn off all layers, except current, with one pick.
  • Save layer configuration(s) to a user-named script file.
  • Restore layer configuration(s) from a previously named file.
  • Display all objects on individual layers with each press of the Enter key. (For checking layer contents.
  • Swap (rename) layers on an imported drawing.
  • Create, for review, a layer status list.
    STRUCTURAL GRID
  • Quick set-up of Grid Lines, with automatic incrementing of numbers/letters.
  • Easy Column (square, round, steel) imputing – sizes/rotation can be changed while inputting.
    WALLS INTERIOR (2 LINE)
  • Quickly input single walls, between columns or other walls, using left, right or center justification, (or, if you prefer, pick the side to offset the first wall line drawn).
  • Draw multiple sectioned walls with automatic cleanup at bends (intersections) and optional cleanup at starting and end points.
  • Multiple walls will not break columns, grid lines, or other non-wall lines, even with the break option turned on.
  • Justification (left, right or center) and thickness of multiple walls can be changed while drawing walls.
  • Clean intersection of crossing walls with 2 pick points only.
    WALLS INTERIOR (3 & 4 LINE)
  • Draw a 4 line (cavity) wall between columns with 4 picks.
  • Draw 3 or 4 line walls, show direction first, then input distance for each section.
  • Distance between wall lines can be set as desired.
    WALL HATCHING
  • Various wall-hatching patterns, can be drawn part or full length of the wall.
  • Solid wall fill, pick edge (corner) of existing walls – useful for "presentation drawings"
    DOORS
  • Insert doors and wall lines are automatically trimmed. Optional door header lines on a separate layer can be drawn.
  • Large variety of single and double door styles.
  • Set (or change) default values within the door command: Door Size; Frame Width and Thickness or no Frame, frame Setback from wall face, Optional Wall Header, Center or Side justification.
  • Flip door swing to opposite hinge point or to other side of wall.
  • Remove doors and heal wall lines.
    SCREENS(Interior Windows)
  • Insert screens and wall lines are automatically trimmed. Optional screen header lines on a separate layer can be drawn.
  • Any number of equal-sized Glass sections.
  • Screen with Door and any number of equal-size glass sections on one or both sides of door.
  • Build Screen - Any number of glass sections and/or doors with varying sizes for Glass sections, Doors or Frame widths.
  • Entrance Screen - With internal calculator to determine size of Glass section.
    WINDOWS (Exterior Windows)
  • Insert windows and wall lines are automatically trimmed. Optional window header lines on a separate layer can be drawn.
  • Any number of equal-size Glass sections.
  • Window with Door and any number of equal-size Glass sections one or both sides of door.
  • Build Window - Any number of Glass sections or Doors with varying sizes for Glass sections, Doors or Frame widths.
  • Corner Windows (any angle) with same or different number/size of panels on each wall
  • Curtain wall command draws part or entire perimeter of building.
    WASHROOM LAYOUTS
  • Single or Multiple Toilet Stalls and Toilets (including handicapped).
  • Single/Multiple Urinal Stalls and Urinals with optional privacy dividers.
  • Lavatory counters with basins and optional splashbacks
  • Internal calculators allow stalls/counters to be fitted into space available.
  • Large variety of Washroom Accessories including recessed fixtures that will break the wall lines.
    STAIR PLANS
  • Easy input of steel or concrete stair layouts.
  • Single run, 'L' and 'U', curved, spiral stairs, and 3-run (square) with open well.
  • Curved, square and straight handrail ends, user defined rail extension lengths.
  • Multiple levels of same stair can be drawn in one operation.
  • Draw a complete "U" shaped stair plan, with nosings, risers, handrails and up and down arrows with only three picks.
    STAIR SECTIONS
  • Quickly draw steel (wood) or concrete stair sections, ‘U’ shape or straight run (floor to floor).
  • Up stair riser, at floor or intermediate landings, can be located at last stair riser or offset either direction.
  • Handrails and stringers are trimmed where appropriate at crossings.
    ELEVATORS AND EXCALATORS
  • Parametric prompts based on standard manufacturers’ criteria.
  • Elevators drawn with single or double wall lines for cab. Door opening can be located at center or side of cab.
    CEILING PLANS
  • Draw ceiling plans in rectangular or random-shaped rooms, using predefined or custom-user generated patterns.
  • After drawing, pattern can be rotated and/or moved (or aligned with adjacent room pattern) until a satisfactory fit is achieved.
    TAGS
  • Detail, Title, Section, Reference, Equipment, Partition, Construction, Revision and Datum Tags. Tags can be sized as desired.
    LEADERS
  • Straight (sectioned) and curved leaders starting or ending with an arrow or dot and with or without text.
    ROOM, DOOR AND WINDOW TAGS
  • Tag numbers incremented automatically while inputting.
  • Room Tags can have 1, 2 or 3 lines, top line of tags can be aligned.
  • Door Tags can set the door size attribute (for Door Schedules) by picking the door swing line.
    ROOM AND DOOR SCHEDULES
  • Room, Door and Window schedules generated from attribute data in tags.
    BILL OF MATERIALS SCHEDULES
  • Block count command counts all the blocks with the same name and creates a small schedule. (TIP: Can be used to count the number of parking spaces by counting the parking bumpers).
  • BOM1 creates a schedule listing all blocks on one layer along with their attribute values.
  • BOM2, as BOM1 above, but also lists individual and extended prices.
    FURNITURE
  • Many furniture symbols. Customisable table and chairs routine. Customisable counter routine.
    MECHANICAL
  • Many plumbing and HVAC symbols.
  • Fire Hose Cabinet drawn recessed in wall, wall line(s) trimmed, and optional header lines.
    ELECTRICAL
  • Many lighting and power symbols.
  • Electrical Panel drawn recessed in wall, wall line(s) trimmed, optional header lines.
    SITE
  • Site Plan symbols, North Arrows, Lights, Hedges, Trees, Vehicles, Spot Elevations, Barscales, Paving Arrows, Catch Basins, Manholes etc.
  • Quickly draw Parking Stall (single, double and center (2-row) layouts, including optional handicapped symbols and parking bumpers.
  • Draw custom linetypes with text or symbols or insert text or symbols into existing lines.
  • Identify length and bearing of existing lines with the Bearing command.
    DETAILS
  • Concrete, Structural steel, Masonry, Drywall commands. Many hatch patterns for detail sections.
    SPACE PLANNING
  • Layout building using plan room blocks or planning grid. Total and individual room areas updated as you work.
    EDITING COMMANDS
  • Input a string of dimensions by picking each point once.
  • Quickly draw a rectangle, on any layer, at any angle, using lines or polylines.
  • Combines 2 lines (parallel or not) into 1.
  • Fillet several lines/arcs, by picking each object once only.
  • Continue existing text by picking text line, matches layer, color, height, angle, style, justification and line spacing.
  • Combination commands for moving/copying with mirror/rotate in one operation.
  • Continuously copy selected objects at any angle but at constant or varying distances.
  • Stretch a set of objects of unknown size, to a precise length, without using enquiry commands first. (A very useful command.)
  • Globally change the width of selected polylines.
    ELEVATIONS
  • Over 300 elevation symbols: Appliances, Doors, Casework, Equipment, Furniture, People, Plumbing, Trees, Vehicles and Washroom Accessories.
  • Regularly Spaced Window Elevation: any number of horizontal equally-sized glass sections and any number of vertical randomly-sized sections.
  • Irregularly Spaced Window Elevation: any number of horizontal randomly-sized glass sections and any number of vertical randomly-sized sections.
  • OWSJ (Open Web Steel Joist) Elevation: draw a partial (detail) joist or a full-length joist in elevation.
    ARCHSOFT COMMANDER
  • Access most of ARCHSOFT’s commands from a dialogue box in the center of the screen – press K + Enter to bring up the Commander.
